Day 1 London - Washington DC You will be collected from your home by Titan’s VIP Home Departure Service and taken to London Heathrow Airport for your direct Virgin Atlantic flight to Washington DC. On arrival a coach will transfer you to the 3*+ Marriott Georgetown.
Day 2 Washington DC In the morning you will be taken on a tour of the city, including its famous monuments, many of them located within the grand setting of the Mall. The famous Mall is flanked by the buildings of the Smithsonian Institute, a complex of museums to which entry is free. In the evening you will visit nearby Georgetown and then enjoy a Washington by night tour, before arriving back at the hotel.
Day 3 Washington DC Today you will have the chance to discover more of Washington’s many sights and attractions. Some of the greatest paintings and works of art from around the world can be found in Washington’s galleries. The city itself is proud of its many grand buildings, one of which is the National Archives Building responsible for housing the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Day 4 Washington DC - Charlottesville You will travel to the Blue Ridge Parkway today, ascending well over 3,000 feet to the dominating views of the Skyline Drive through the Shenandoah National Park. Here you will get the chance to take in the breathtaking views of the forested slopes and valleys receding into the distance, on a winding route that takes us into the fertile vine-growing areas of Virginia and to the Barboursville vineyards. You will have the opportunity to experience a taste of the local vintage of this beautiful location before continuing on to Charlottesville and to your hotel, the 3* Holiday Inn Monticello.
Day 5 Charlottesville - Lexington Enjoy a visit to Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello today, in its beautiful setting atop Little Mountain. Jefferson, who had the fabled Renaissance Man’s ability to excel in so many areas of the arts and sciences, built here what is acknowledged to be an architectural masterpiece and the contents of his home have been preserved. You will then continue along the Parkway to Lexington, taking in the spectacular views of the mountains and valleys on the way. Your hotel for the night will be the 3* Best Western Inn at Hunt Ridge.
Day 6 Lexington - Roanoke Lexington is a typical American small town with its community still strongly thriving. In the afternoon you’ll visit Natural Bridge, a towering limestone structure of 215 feet once owned by Thomas Jefferson. Enjoy a guided tour of the caverns, exploring underground in the safe hands of a trained guide. Spend the night at the 3* Holiday Inn at Roanoke.
Day 7 Roanoke - Pigeon Forge Today you’ll travel to Abingdon and the beautiful porticoed Martha Washington Inn, whose fine, intricately designed bedrooms have attracted many a celebrity over the years. Enjoy a lovely afternoon tea and a short tour of the hotel before a visit to the Barter Theatre across the street, which has the unique claim to fame of being the place where the late Gregory Peck first trod the boards as a very young man. Other film stars ‘discovered’ in this seemingly remote playhouse were Patricia Neal and Ernest Borgnine. Continue on to Pigeon Forge located close to the Smoky Mountains National Park where your hotel will be the 3* Holiday Inn Pigeon Forge.
Day 8 Pigeon Forge Pigeon Forge is a resort town with a wide range of attractions and is known for its extensive shopping opportunities. Your day here is free to explore at leisure.
Day 9 Pigeon Forge - Winston-Salem Experience many more fantastic views of the parkland as you traverse the heart of the Smoky Mountains. This afternoon enjoy a visit Chimney Rock Park, setting for the film ‘The Last of the Mohicans’. In the park’s 1,000 acres you are introduced to the lush flora and fauna, and the majestic backdrop to the film’s final scenes. Then you’ll travel north to Winston-Salem and your hotel will be the 3* Marriott.
Day 10 Winston-Salem You will be shown a film of Winston-Salem at the visitor’s centre, before a brief tour of the area. You will visit Reynolda House, where you’ll see what fine American life was like a century ago, including its American art, antiques and beautiful grounds. We also take a tour of Historic Bethabra Park, the original site of the Protestant Moravian settlement set in 183 acres of picturesque, wooded wildlife parkland with 126 species of birds.
Day 11 Winston-Salem - Williamsburg To the winding roads of Durham, beguilingly approached through Duke Forest, bought and donated by the philanthropist shopkeeper who also founded Duke University, whose campus we briefly visit. This afternoon you follow the Plantation Trail with its fine houses and gardens to one of the best, Berkeley Plantation, and continue onto historic Williamsburg, the most perfectly-maintained of all American towns, where you’ll stay for the next two nights at the 3* DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel.
Day 12 Jamestown In the morning, you’ll take a journey to Jamestown, known as the first permanent English settlement in America. Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II recently visited the 18th century Colonial Capital to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the settlement. You will then spend the afternoon in Williamsburg where you can visit the local traditional shops and meet with Americans in costume.
Day 13 Williamsburg - Alexandria - Washington - In flight Spend your final day on the cobbled streets of the city’s most picturesque suburb, Alexandria. Later today you will depart for Washington Dulles Airport for your direct, scheduled Virgin Atlantic flight to London.
Day 14 London When you arrive back at London Heathrow Airport, you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for your journey home.
